Got some requests for more Chinese food so I hit up one of Ventura’s older places, right off of Seaward. You can see it from the 101 and from what I hear they are more popular for their Karaoke nights then they are for the dining. I’d actually been there before. A few years back I hit up the bar with some friends and sang Enter Sandman, but I’d never had the food before. Off we go to a very large Chinese Restaurant called Golden China. Continue reading

Last of the Great Fat Guys on Hells Kitchen
Hell’s kitchen continued right where we left it last week, with Gordon telling the chefs he’s closing down Hells Kitchen. We all gasp at this incredible announcement, right? Right? Nope we don’t. In fact, we are all pretty used to most of the so called huge announcements on this show just being reality one liners. Yes, he is closing Hells Kitchen, but only so the group can go on a field trip to the Borgata. It’s a chance to see where only one of them will be a chef and the others will just look in with their face pressed up against the glass.

This am oven for to make fish cook!

Fluffy Eggs at the 126 Café
I went for breakfast, this morning, to a place a couple of neighbors had told me about. It’s a little, and I mean little, diner right off the 126 hwy called the 126 Café. They said it had a lot of history and had been around for something like 40 years and that they had one of the best breakfasts in town. Continue reading

Shows that make you wanna eat
I am taking a day off from throwing another food joint at you to go over something that I realized while watching the Sopranos. If any of you have ever watched the show, you know that Carmella spends half the show in the kitchen whipping up Italian dishes. Along with her you have Artie cooking all the time and most of the cast is usually eating or drinking. As I’m watching I look down and realize I’m eating the lasagna I just made the night before. Everytime I watch this show I want to eat something. They have such great food on the show that it actually drives something in my brain to eat. I guess that’s better than the other vices on the show. I haven’t started threatening the locals for protection money or working out of a strip club. Though the latter has some appeal.
The top of my list is probably the Sopranos. What else hits that impulse in your brain?

Hells Kitchen and the French Revolution
This last week’s Hells Kitchen started off great. We just watched Carol get axed and now we were gonna get to see 2 more who are in desperate need of the boot in Ben and Andrea. I’m thinking that Gordon is finally reading my letters and is about to just start going Soprano on this kitchen and wack the dead weight.
Nope! He is just being all reality twistified by just torturing two people with horrible self esteem by announcing there is now only one team. But what you, me, and the rest of the world know, is that there are only a couple good chefs there and the rest are just waiting for the noose. Continue reading

Aloha Steak House
I took on a high end steak house in Ventura called the Aloha Steak House. Personally, I don’t normally hit up places where the average meal costs $30 to $40 dollars a plate, but this place gets business and a lot of people like it so I wanted to add it to EatMeCalifornia’s list.
