I was told to hit Evita’s for the salsa and the enchiladas. Since I dig both, I headed on over. Evita’s has won a few local awards for salsa at the Oxnard salsa festivals and you can view their various awards right over the salsa bar. I was hoping I was in for, at the least, some really good salsas.
Evita’s Mexican Café – Ventura off of Main St
Evita’s is a little pink restaurant on the side of Main St, at the East end, before you hit the Pacific View Mall. Even though I rarely enter a pink building, because it is a man card violation, I figured it was for a good cause and I had already gotten another violation that day for watching Footloose.
With all the eating (and drinking) that I’ve been doing lately, I thought I would dip into my well of knowledge and share a couple things about man’s greatest affliction. I’m not talking Cancer, Heart Disease or anything like that. I’m talking hangovers, people. The hangover is a menace that has plagued society from the time of the ancient Egyptians and the sad thing is that we are no closer to curing it today, than we were so many thousands of years ago.
I know some of you will say that the only cure for a hangover is to not drink. To those people I say, “Shut it!” Why should we avoid the greatness that is booze. With a great name like that, I don’t need to even try to spice it up. Snapper Jack’s was created by a local Ventura man and his wife and yep, his name is even Jack. It opened back in 2000 and I’ve been there a few times. They even have a new location in Camarillo. The one thing I had never had though, was any of their snapper. So here we go with Snapper Jacks Taco Shack.
